All of us knew that one day all of the leaves will bid goodbye to its branches, the stars will say farewell to the sky, the raindrops will come pouring down and bid adieu to the clouds and life will perish, but of all the partings… one thing will be left on us that we can treasure forever for the rest of our lives – it’s the memories. Everything may fade on this world but reminiscence will last forever.
Have you ever said thank you to someone who had done a piece of kindness for you? To the person who gives you parental love? To that individual who acts as your mentor, provider, protector, counselor, friend, parent, brother, sister, shoulder to lean on at times when the uncertainties of life cover you and when the dominion of darkness, of loneliness and life’s suppressions is in your hearts. Have you?
Many of us usually hate them for those tiresome reporting, those quizzes that made our brows crossed, undying oral recitations, those countless preaching that deafened us, those endless reminders that we hear day by day, those violent reactions as they enter our sanctuaries that has been plagued by untidiness. “I will never be like them”, I told myself.
Some calls them “maldita”, “bruha”, strict, ferocious dragon, machine-gun-mouth-like, beast, but still they continue to educate and inculcate in our hearts and minds all the best they can muster for us not to be in the crooked path of our journey called life.
Have we asked ourselves, “What was behind those intimidating eyes…those authoritarian auras? If we look deeper and try to decipher the codes, we can see that their acts show their imperishable love for us. Though they received minimal wage, yet, they don’t regard it as appalling cause they want to be an instrument, to be a bridge, to be a partner of our success and achievements. Their rage, their anger wants to squeeze something better or the best out of us.
Have we ever asked ourselves what’s the history of those lesson plans, those exams, quizzes, and oral recitations? We just don’t realize that they have to keep awake even late at night preparing for those activities. They keep on thinking of the best strategy to educate us, to reach our inner cores that we may understand everything. They don’t have additional payment for that, no overtime pay. They take the risk and sacrifice almost everything for us to be equipped as we go along with our expedition in life.
Moreover, there will never be a good sword without a skilled wielder, an educating book without a patient author and a blooming garden without an untiring devotion of a loving gardener, so it is with a teacher.
So, this month of October let’s give due appreciation for the patriotism and wisdom of all our teachers. May we let them feel that we treasure their sacrifices, their efforts, their hardships, and their patience.
Cause remember the world will not have a skilled doctor, an accommodating registered nurse, great architects, renowned engineers, famous individuals in their fields of work without the perseverance, the boundless love, the limitless understanding, the eternal devotion, the great skill of a nobleman, the nobleness of an individual with an extraordinary acts of a simple yet dedicated and devoted TEACHER. We will cherish you forever our dear TEACHER…
